Asahiyama Zoo has been specially designed to keep the animal habitats as natural as possible while enabling visitors to view the animals from a number of different vantage points without disturbing their natural behaviours. A great example of this is in the penguin house where you can view the penguins from below the surface as they appear to fly above you. Other popular animals at the zoo include the polar bears, orangutans, red pandas and many more. For a limited time during August you can enjoy the special Night Zoo when the park stays open until 9pm. This gives guests the rare opportunity to see a different side to animals that may not be seen during the day.
