Mt. Resort Asahidake (Daisetsuzan Asahidake Ropeway)
Ride the ropeway to the mountain peak and witness unique natural winter phenomena.
Situated within Daisetsuzan National Park, one of the largest national parks in Japan, this resort is surrounded by native spruce trees and is great for backcountry skiing with an abundance of powder snow. It is an off-piste paradise (for advanced skiers and snowboarders only) and also has other activities available as well including the Asahidake ropeway (also known as the ‘sky walk’) which ascends 500 vertical meters, offering spectacular views. From the mountain peak you can enjoy 360 degree panorama views as well as enjoying the four unique natural phenomena: Diamond Dust (clouds composed of tiny ice crystals which only appear when the temperature drops below -15 on a sunny day), Frost covered trees, sun pillar (a vertical shaft of light extending down from the sun), and if you are really lucky, the moon pillar.
